Match report For the 1st round of the Brewery Cup Ticknall were well hosted by Burton on a hot Summer's day.

Ticknall, playing 8 1st teamers, bat first on a hard wicket and made a steady start with Captain Luke Harvey (55) and Jonathan Thompstone (15) opening up as per usual. Further contributions from the top and middle order including 52 from Woody Bridgeman and a breezy 40 not out from Tom Cosford ensured that Ticknall posted a competitive score of 282 for 6 in their 60 overs.

When Burton came out to bat they faced the experienced seam attack of Vice-Captain Graham Chamberlain (7 overs 3 maidens 3 - 11) and Shahid Khan (5 overs 2 maidens 1 - 7) which helped Ticknall to dominate with the ball from the outset. This continued with support from all Ticknall's bowlers including the spin duo of Harvey (3 overs 3 maidens 2 - 0) and Rupert Scott-Jones (2 overs 0 maidens 2 - 5). With Ticknall bowling consistently well from the outset it made it extremely difficult for Burton to build substantial partnerships and the hosts eventually closed their innings on 50 all out.

It should be mentioned that Burton were excellent hosts and all the players, spectators and officials had an enjoyable day's cricket. Many thanks to Burton Cricket Club for hosting Ticknall so well.
